Overview
Quaerent is committed to protecting your privacy. This platform is designed to allow users to share hiring experiences anonymously, without requiring personal identification.
We only collect and process data that is necessary to operate, secure, and improve the platform.
Information we collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- content you voluntarily submit (reports, feedback)
- account data, if you create an account: an email address, which is the only direct identifier we store. We do not ask for your name, your resume, or your phone number.
- tracking data you enter in your tracker or capture with the browser extension (applications, statuses, dates, notes, job details). This data is private to your account.
- skills you choose to confirm in your skills profile (the skill, the level you chose, and the proof you wrote). This data is private to your account.
- technical data (browser type, device, approximate location)
- usage data (pages visited, interactions)
- server logs (IP address, browser type, device type) retained for security purposes
We do not require users to provide names, emails, or any personally identifiable information to submit a report.
Creating an account requires an email address. Published data is anonymous and aggregated. Account data is pseudonymous: it is tied to your email and visible only to you.
Cookies and tracking
Quaerent does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
We may use essential cookies or session tokens strictly necessary to operate the platform (e.g. authentication state). No personal data is shared with advertising networks or data brokers.
How we use data
We use collected data to:
- provide the features you use, including your tracker and any AI assistant you choose to connect
- publish and display user-submitted reports
- maintain platform security and prevent abuse
- review submissions to protect privacy and safety
- improve platform performance and user experience
We do not sell personal data. Data may be used in aggregated and anonymized form to generate insights and statistics.
Content and anonymity
Quaerent is built around anonymous contributions. Users are responsible for ensuring that the content they submit does not include sensitive personal information about themselves or others.
Submissions may be reviewed to protect privacy, reduce harm, and prevent identifiable or sensitive information from being published.
Your skills profile
If you build a skills profile, we store the skills you confirmed yourself: the skill name, the level you chose, and the proof you wrote in your own words. Nothing enters your profile without your explicit confirmation.
Private to your account.
Your skills profile is never public. What it contains, the skill names, your levels, and your proofs, is never aggregated, never included in any statistic, and never included in the data companies see. It exists for you alone. Your proofs leave your account only inside a tailoring prompt you copy yourself to your own assistant.
You can erase it.
You can delete any skill from My Skills at any time, one by one. Deleting your account erases your entire skills profile with it.
Your resume never reaches Quaerent.
Building your profile from your resume happens on your own AI assistant, with your own resume. Quaerent never receives, stores, or sees your resume: the only thing that reaches us is the list of skills your assistant produces, which you paste, review, and confirm yourself.
Job descriptions you paste.
When you paste a job description into Tailor to a Job, it is processed in transit on our servers: it builds your brief, then it is discarded. It is never stored and never written to our logs. If you save a job to your tracker, what is stored is what you review and confirm: the job details and the key lines you kept, never the full posting text.
Connected AI assistants
You can connect an AI assistant (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini) to your Quaerent account through MCP, an open standard. The connection uses OAuth: you sign in on quaerent.com, you see what access is requested, and you approve or decline.
What a connected assistant can access.
Only your own account data, within the scopes you approved: your tracked applications and prospects, briefings derived from them, and company data that is already published on quaerent.com. It cannot access another user’s data, and it cannot see anything about a company beyond its public page.
What a connected assistant can change.
A connected assistant can create or update entries in your tracker, but every change requires your explicit confirmation in the conversation before it is saved. Nothing in your tracker is ever marked as ghosted automatically, by Quaerent or by a connected assistant.
What the assistant’s platform receives.
When you connect, the client application receives basic identity information about your account, including your email address, as part of the sign-in. Beyond that, tool responses never include your email: the assistant does not need it to help you. Your resume is never part of this flow. Quaerent does not receive, store, or see your resume.
Your conversations stay on the assistant’s platform.
Quaerent only receives the requests the assistant makes to your tracker. What you write to your assistant is governed by that provider’s privacy policy, not by Quaerent.
Access tokens and revocation.
Connections use short-lived access tokens with rotating refresh tokens. You can revoke a connected assistant at any time from your account, under Connected apps. Revoking a connection immediately blocks the assistant from getting renewed access. Any access token it still holds stops working within the hour.
Browser extension
The Quaerent browser extension shows you a company’s public track record while you look at a job posting, and saves the roles you confirm to your tracker. It is built to read as little as possible, only when you ask it to.
When the extension reads a page.
Only when you click its icon. At that moment it reads the job posting page you are looking at: the structured job posting markup, the page text and the page address. It has no access to any page before that click, and none after you close the popup. It never reads in the background, and it has no access to your browsing history or your other tabs.
What stays on your device.
The page is processed locally, in your browser. The job description, whether read from the page or pasted by you, is never stored and never transmitted as it is. It only serves to fill the review form you see in the popup.
What is sent to Quaerent.
Only the fields you review and confirm when you save a role: company, job title, location, the job posting address and the key lines you kept. Nothing is saved until you confirm it. Saved roles land in your tracker, private to your account, like any application you enter by hand.
Checking a company stays off your account.
When the popup shows a company’s public track record, that request carries no sign-in and no cookies, even when you are connected. A company you check is never tied to your account.
What the extension stores.
One thing: a sign-in token, kept in your browser’s extension storage so you stay connected between sessions. No page content, no history and no other personal data is ever stored. Your password is never seen or stored by the extension: signing in happens on quaerent.com. Disconnecting removes the token, and you can revoke the extension’s access at any time from your account, under Connected apps, where it appears like any connected app.
No analytics, no third parties.
The extension contains no analytics and no tracking. It only talks to quaerent.com and, when you connect or use your account, to Quaerent’s sign-in service. No other site is ever contacted.
Data retention
Submitted content may be stored and displayed indefinitely as part of the platform’s purpose to provide transparency over time.
We may remove or modify content if it violates our policies or upon valid request.
OAuth tokens issued to connected assistants are short-lived. Revoking a connection blocks renewal, and any active token expires within the hour.
The browser extension keeps a single sign-in token in your browser. Disconnecting the extension or removing it deletes that token; revoking its access from Connected apps stops it from being renewed.

We will review all requests and respond as quickly as reasonably possible.
Applicable regulations
Quaerent is operated by Hiring Silence LLC from the United States and complies with applicable data protection regulations, including the GDPR where applicable to users in the European Union, and the CCPA where applicable to California residents.
